How to make referrals to our services

Our Single Point of Access (SPA) service provides a first point of contact for people aged 18 and over, who wish to access mental health and learning disability services in Lincolnshire.

No more telephoning around to find the right service to meet your patient's needs - the SPA provides direct access to all our specialist and wide ranging services.

 

How to use the SPA

All referrals are channeled into one central contact centre by whichever method preferred by the referrer:

  • Telephone referrals to: 0303 123 4000?
  • Post to: SPA Contact Centre, Sycamore Unit, Beacon Lane, Grantham, NG31 9DF
  • Email referral form to: lincs.spa@nhs.net
  • Web portal: a new GP web portal is coming online very soon
  • Choose & Book: GPs can make rerferrals through the partial Choose & Book system.

Designed for both routine or urgent referrals and enquiries, the SPA  is staffed by fully qualified and skilled healthcare professionals 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year.  The team provide advice and guidance through a triage process, where the urgency of care required is assessed. 

People can continue to refer themselves, or make enquiries on behalf of a family member or friend (with their permission), to our popular psychological therapy services (also known as steps2change talking therapies).

How the SPA works

Once our contact centre receives a referral, they contact the patient directly to organise a triage assessment to determine which service would best suit their needs. Based on the information received, and in line with commissioning guidance, they will then be automatically signposted to the most appropriate team for assessment/treatment, or in the case of an emergency, referred to the crisis resolution and home treatment team.
