The Francis Willis Unit is a 15 bedded low secure inpatient unit which provides assessment and treatment for males aged 18 to 65 years with a primary diagnosis of mental illness who may exhibit challenging or high risk behaviours. The unit achieved Preferred Provider status both with the East and West Specialist Commissioning Group in 2007/2008.

We aim to promote recovery and rehabilitation, enable the reduction of risks posed and ultimately enable the individual to leave the secure environment for one less restrictive.

The unit provides a caring and safe environment within a secure clinical setting and promotes the rights of each person to be fully involved in their care and treatment and to receive the highest standards of care.

Care is delivered in a professional manner taking account of personal, religious, cultural and ethnic preferences within a friendly, relaxed and non-judgemental environment.
