Equality reports and data

The Trust acknowledges the real value equality adds to ensuring the services we provide are fair and equal.

The annual Equality Report provides an update on the progress made around the equality and human rights agenda for the Trust.  It forms part of the legal requirement under the Specific Duty in the Public Sector Equality Duty (PSED), part of the Equality Act 2010.

The Annual Report has the complete data report for patients and service users, membership and workforce, outlining the Trust's profile against the protected characteristics: Age, Disability, Gender, Reassignment, Marriage and Civil partnership, Pregnancy and Maternity, Race, Religion and belief, Sex and Sexual Orientation.

The Trust will continue to analyse the data helping the identification of gaps in provision and ensuring implementation of appropriate actions that encourage diversity.

Gender pay gap report

Gender pay reporting legislation requires employers with 250 or more employees from April 2017 to publish statutory calculations every year showing how large the pay gap is between their male and female employees.

Equality Delivery System

The Equality Delivery System (EDS) is part of the NHS standard contract requirements, and as such the assessment of our grading and actions are reviewed on an annual basis.

Workforce Race Equality Standard (WRES)

From 1 April 2015 all NHS organisations are required to demonstrate how they are addressing race equality issues in a range of staffing areas. This is done through the nine point Workforce Race Equality Standard (WRES) metric.

The WRES Standard has been mandated in the Standard NHS Contract since 2015/16. The regulators, the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and NHSi, will use the WRES to help assess whether NHS organisations are well led. Once approved, the results will be required to be submitted to the local Coordinating Commissioner and uploaded to NHS England.

Workforce Disability Equality Standard (WDES)

The Workforce Disability Equality Standard (WDES) has been commissioned by the Equality and Diversity Council (EDC) within NHS England. The WDES has been developed through a pilot and extensive engagement with Trusts and key stakeholders. It is mandated through the NHS Standard Contract from 1 April 2019 for NHS Trusts and Foundation Trusts.

The WDES is a set of ten specific measures (metrics) that will enable NHS organisations to compare the experiences of Disabled and non-disabled staff. This information will then be used develop a local action plan. This will then enable demonstration of progress against the indicators of disability equality.

LPFT was one of 15 Trusts nationally to take part in the WDES (Workforce Disability Equality Standard) pilot in 2017 with NHS England.
