CQC Well-Led Inspection

Video of Chief Nursing Officer, Sharon Harvey explaining more about the Trust's recent CQC well led inspection

We are delighted to share that the Care Quality Commission (CQC) has rated Lincolnshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (LPFT) as Good following its latest well-led assessment in June 2026.

This was our first well-led assessment for several years and the first to be carried out using the CQC's more recent methodology.

When people hear about a CQC inspection, they often think about the care they receive in our services. A well-led assessment looks at something slightly different. It considers whether an organisation has the right leadership, culture, values and systems in place across the whole organisation to support safe, compassionate and effective care, both now and in the future.

The report describes LPFT as a well-led organisation with strong leadership, clear plans for the future and a good oversight of the quality of care people receive. Inspectors found that leaders were visible and approachable, staff felt able to speak up when things were not right, and there was a strong commitment to learning and continuous improvement. They also recognised the dedication of our staff and their determination to provide the best possible care and support for the people who use our services.

We were particularly proud that the report recognises the importance we place on genuinely involving people in shaping and improving services. Throughout the assessment, inspectors heard how people with lived experience, patients, service users, carers and families help influence decisions as equal partners, develop services and improve the support we provide as equal partners. We know that the best decisions are made when we listen to the people who use our services, their families and loved ones, and work alongside them to shape care and support.

While the report is positive, we know it does not mean everything is perfect. There were still areas highlighted by the CQC where we need to do more. They are challenges we already know about and are working hard to improve, including making quality improvement part of everyday work, responding to the financial pressures facing the NHS, and how we make sure people with lived experience are genuinely involved in helping us make decisions and improve care every single time.

What the report does tell us however is that we have the values, leadership, governance and oversight needed to recognise challenges, listen to concerns and take action. We believe that being open about what is working well, while also being honest about where we need to do better, is an important part of building trust and continuing to listen, learn and improve.

We are proud of our staff, and grateful to those who have shared and continue to share their experiences and ideas with us.
