A virtual national conference for trainees in Psychiatry across the UK who want to learn more about their role as future clinical leaders.

About this Event

Lincolnshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust is hugely excited to bring you a conference showcasing some of the leading figures in mental healthcare today, from across the UK.

We hope to inspire and inform the next generation of clinical leaders with a diverse and action packed day aimed at trainees and speciality doctors working in Psychiatry or those with an interest in pursuing a career in Psychiatry.

The event is being run and will be chaired on the day by Psychiatry trainees from the Trust. We hope to create an open and welcoming atmosphere for others at a similar stage in their careers to come and think about their futures and how to make the most of them.

Keynote speakers

Dr Adrian James FRCPsych - President of The Royal College of Psychiatrists

Adrian will discuss his leadership journey.

Dr Geraldine Strathdee C.B.E. O.B.E. Hon. FRCPsych - Former National Clinical Director for Mental Health, NHS England (2012-2016)

Geraldine has had a portfolio career as a frontline NHS clinician, and as an academic, medical manager, policy maker, regulator, global improvement consultant, and leader innovator. She will speak about being true to your values, making a difference and having fun!

Prof Tim Kendall FRCPsych - Current National Clinical Director for Mental Health, NHS England

Tim will help us all to unpack and understand finance in the NHS so that we can understand how to drive the change we want to see for the benefit of patients.

You will also be able to enjoy talks and workshops to further enrich your leadership perspective, including topics such as organisational dynamics, patient safety, making the most of improvement projects, and becoming a new consultant.

We welcomed submissions of posters by medical students, trainees and SAS doctors who are attending the conference. The deadline for submissions was 28 January 2021.

Posters will be accepted on the themes of management and leadership.  This could include quality improvement, audit, research or service evaluation projects where management and leadership skills have been demonstrated.

A prize will be given for the best poster, as judged by a panel.  First prize will be £100 in vouchers.  The first prize winner will also be invited to present their poster as a fifteen minute oral presentation on the day of the conference.

The panel will look especially for posters that demonstrate excellent leadership qualities of authors.  This does not necessarily mean that the author(s) have taken up a formal leadership position but rather that at whatever level, they have demonstrated the leadership qualities of a future clinical leader.

Guidelines:

  • Prepare your poster as usual and simply email the file rather than print it.
  • Create your poster in PowerPoint then save as an Adobe ‘pdf’ file.  Please ensure that files are no larger than 2MB.
  • You can include illustrations, drawings, photographs and text.
  • The top line(s) should give the title of your abstract.
  • The next line(s) should indicate the authors and their affiliations.
  • Continue with the introduction, methods, results and discussion as appropriate.
  • The poster should end with conclusions.
