CQC inspection of community learning disability and autism services - July 2026

We wanted to share about a recent inspection of our learning disability and autism services that you may be accessing.

The inspection was carried out by the Care Quality Commission (CQC). The CQC checks how good NHS services are and whether they are providing the care people should expect.

What the CQC said

We are pleased to tell you that the CQC rated our services as:

  • Good overall
  • And Good for being safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led

This means the CQC found our services are performing well and meeting their expectations.

The CQC visited our three community learning disability hubs, as well as our Enhanced Support and Liaison Service and Adult Autism Diagnostic and Post Diagnosis Support teams.

If you spoke to the inspectors during their visit, thank you. Your feedback helped them understand what it is like to use our services.

You can read the full report on the CQC website on www.cqc.org.uk/provider/RP7

Or, if you would prefer, you can ask a member of staff for a copy.

What the CQC said we do well

Inspectors found that people:

  • Feel safe, supported and well cared for.
  • Are treated with kindness, dignity and respect.
  • Are listened to and involved in decisions about their care.
  • Receive support that is right for them as an individual.
  • Are supported to have choice, independence and control over their lives.

We were especially pleased that the CQC found three parts of our service that were Outstanding.

This is the highest level the CQC can give.

They said we are outstanding at:

  • Helping people make positive changes in their lives.
  • Finding new ways to make services better and easier to use.
  • Supporting staff so they can give great care.

We are incredibly proud of this feedback.

It recognises the hard work, kindness and dedication of our staff. It also reflects the important role service users, families and carers play in helping us improve our services.

Thank you to everyone who shared their experiences with the inspectors and to everyone who works with us to make our services better.

What we will keep improving

We are proud of what the report says, but we know there is always more we can do.

We will continue to:

  • Listen to feedback from patients, families and carers.
  • Improve support for people waiting for an autism assessment.
  • Keep developing our services so people can get the right support at the right time.
  • Build on the good work recognised by the CQC and continue improving care.
