Who are we?
Mental Health Support Teams (MHSTs) are a new service designed to help meet the mental health needs of children and young people in selected education settings i.e. Schools and Colleges.
Teams are made up of professionals called Clinical Lead Practitioners and Education Mental Health Practitioners (EMHPs). These are workers who have had specialised training to support young people presenting with a wide range of mental health issues.
We work closely with education staff to understand and respond to the mental health needs of the young people in their setting. This can be in the form of workshops, groups and individual work.
The teams are currently in a 2 year ‘trailblazer’ project in selected areas within Lincolnshire, and work closely and collaboratively with existing children and young people’s (CYP) services in the county.
How do we find out more?
These teams are really new and are not yet set up in every region or school and college. With that in mind, please speak to your child/young person's school or college to find out whether they have access to a Mental Health Support Team.
If you have a young person who is struggling with their mental health and want to talk to a mental health professional to find out what supports are available in your area, please contact our Here4You line on 0800 234 6342 or find out more about self referral on our webpage.
