What is membership?
Our membership is made up of service users, carers and local people with an interest in the Trust and the services we provide. It also includes our staff and representatives from partner organisations in the local area.
We are keen that our membership is representative of the wide range of people who we care for, who work for us, and who live in the communities we serve.
How do I become a member?
You can sign up to be a member by using our online membership form linked below.

What happens next?
When you have sent us your completed membership form we will send you a welcome letter, introducing you to the Trust and how you can get involved. This includes who represents you on our Council of Governors. Email correspondence is always encouraged to help us achieve our environmental objectives.
What are the benefits of being a member?
Some benefits of being a member include:
- Providing your voice on how we can improve local health services.
- Helping make a difference to the local services and community.
- Working alongside the Trust and governors about the needs of the community.
- Voting for governors to represent you on the Council of Governors. You could even stand as a governor yourself, representing the view of memberships and shaping the organisation.
- Attending events such as the Annual Members’ Meeting to learn more about the Trust and its services.
- Receiving regular email updates on the work of the Trust, including recent projects and developments.
- Receiving our Better Together membership magazine
- Apply for a range of discounts through Health Service Discounts.

Why does the Trust value members?
Members can help the Trust to challenge the stigma and discrimination that people with mental health difficulties and autism and learning disabilities may face as well as what their friends and family may experience.
Membership is formed of :
- service users
- carers
- staff members
- local volunteers
All of the above have an interest in the Trust and the services we provide.
It is extremely important to the Trust that membership is representative of the wide range of people in order for all voices and experiences to be heard.
Membership is free!
How much you choose to take part as a member is up to you. You may:
- just want to receive the Trust’s Better Together membership magazine and vote every three years for someone to represent you on the Council of Governors, or
- want to take a more active and involved role by attending events and meetings, or
- want to stand as a governor yourself.
Whichever level of participation you choose gives you a bigger say in what the Trust does, and really makes your views count.
As of 2022 the Trust has over 9000 members.
Who can become a member?
There are three types of members:
- Public membership - open to anyone who lives in Lincolnshire or in any English Electoral Ward.
- Patient membership - open to anyone in the local area who has used the Trust’s specialist health services in the last five years, or is a carer of a service user.
- Staff membership - open to anyone who is a contracted staff members within the Trust.
Please note - all members must be over 12 years old. Membership eligibility is outlined as per Section 11 of the Trust Constitution
Data Protection and Consent
The Information you provide on your membership form will remain confidential and will be managed in accordance with the Data Protection Act 2018 requirements. Your information will then be managed in accordance with the new Data Protection Act 2018 as of 25th May 2018.
