Work with us
Our people lie at the heart of what we do. We have over 2,800 excellent, well trained and motivated staff. They are what make us successful. You could be part of a Trust rated by our own staff as one of the best mental health trusts in England, in and around a location heralded as a fantastic place to live and work.
"Lincoln has been crowned the best UK city to raise a family, thanks to its outstanding schools, clean air quality, safety and average property price."
- House Beautiful, September 2020
"If you're looking for a part-time commute - this hilly city is on the up...
"It's an endurance test of brightly painted, hanging basket-bedecked independent shops and tearooms, voted Britain's best street by the Academy of Urbanism in 2011 and is still as pretty nine years on."
- The Times, October 2020
You can hear from one of our international recruits, Sabita, about how she has settled into life in Lincoln since moving from Trinidad and Tobago in early 2022.
Care Quality Commission and National Staff Survey
We firmly believe that the key to high quality patient care is a contented workforce. This is reflected in the Care Quality Commission rating us as ‘outstanding’ for well led and ‘good’ overall. Our staff also rated us above the national average in all of the themes in the latest national staff survey.
For 2021, the NHS staff survey was aligned to the seven themes of the NHS People Promise, alongside the two previous elements of staff engagement and morale. We are particularly proud that in the latest national staff survey 72% of staff recommended the organisation as a place to work.
We also scored the highest nationally for staff morale and the second highest nationally for staff feeling safe and healthy.* This highlights our commitment to supporting the health and wellbeing of our staff.
We are dedicated to offering opportunities for flexible working across all of our services. We understand and value the importance of a great work-life balance.
*National NHS Staff Survey 2021 (217 NHS providers surveyed - excluding Clinical Commissioning Groups and Commissioning Support Units).
Opportunities for Development
We are committed to providing pathways and opportunities for development for all staff. We are proud of our partnership with the University of Lincoln and the Lincoln Medical School. The Medical School has been supporting the expansion of our academic offerings to nurture and value talent across the Trust.
We value allowing people to be themselves and are committed to being openly supportive and celebrating diversity. We have three active staff network groups:
- Black Asian Minority Ethnics (BAME)
- Lesbian Gay Bi-Sexual Transgender (LGBT+)
- Staff with Mental and Physical Lived Experience (MAPLE).
This has resulted in annual staff conferences and some great national accolades such as the Trust being included in the Top 100 organisations in the country within the Stonewall Index. We have developed our values, behaviours and culture over the past three years and we live by them.
Staff Recognition
Staff recognition is at the heart of our values. In the latest national staff survey, we scored the second highest score nationally for staff feeling recognised and rewarded*. We are proud of the achievements of our staff and volunteers. We value the importance of celebrating success through our Staff Excellence Awards and LPFT Heroes Awards. Our leaders are compassionate, supportive and look at solution focused outcomes. They are always working on a theme of continuous improvement.
We are pleased to have received the results of the 2023 national NHS staff survey and we have been rated second highest NHS mental health trust for staff recommending us as a place to work.
