General data protection regulation (GDPR) – health and social care research

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) comes into force on 25 May 2018.  In collaboration with stakeholders and reviewed by the Information Commissioner’s Office, the Health Research Authority (HRA) has provided operational guidance for research delivery in the UK

NHS organisations are expected to provide information on their websites regarding how people’s personal data is being used, and what their rights are under the law.

Join Dementia Research

Dementia is one of the biggest challenges we face today. The number of people with dementia is set to double over the next 30 years. Research offers hope. It is only through research that we can understand what causes the disease, develop effective treatments, improve care and hopefully one day find a cure.

But for research to progress we need more people to take part in more studies. Our knowledge of dementia currently lags behind that of other major conditions, such as cancer or heart disease. We have to close this gap.

The Lincolnshire ENRICH Forum takes place three times a year in collaboration with the University of Lincoln and we aim to provide opportunities for best practice learning and research delivery/development.

If you are a care home, clinician, academic or member of the public interested in care home research then please contact for further details of how to become a forum member.

"By 2020 we would wish to see, more research being conducted in, and disseminated through, care homes, and a majority of care homes signed up to the NIHR ENRICH 'Research Ready Care Home Network'."

David Cameron, announced in 2015's Prime Minister's challenge on dementia 2020.

Patient Research Experience Survey (PRES)

We are undertaking the Patient Research Experience Survey in partnership with the NIHR (National Institute for Health Research) Clinical Research Network East Midlands. This survey will help us better understand the experience of people taking part in clinical research.

Please only complete the survey if you have taken part in research. The information you give us will be used to understand:

  • What works best for patients in the way we do research in the NHS
  • Where we can make helpful changes in the way we do things if needed

It may also be used for example in:

  • Publicity about the value of research to patients
  • Illustrating reports about research

Completion of the survey is voluntary and we do not ask for any personal details that identify you.
