Trust appoints new Chief Medical Officer

After three years with the Trust, Chief Medical Officer Dr Girish Kunigiri has taken up a new role at neighbouring Derbyshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust and left LPFT at the end of October.

Dr Kunigiri has been a wonderful member of the Board over the last few years, and we are sad to see him leave. We know he will be an asset to our neighbours over in Derbyshire and look forward to continuing working with him as part of our East Midlands Alliance.

Following the news of Dr Kunigiri’s departure, we are pleased to have been able to appoint a replacement who joined us at the end of October. Following a robust recruitment process, we have appointed Dr Mike Hunter, who has been working as the Medical Director for Recovery at Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust, having previously held the role of Executive Medical Director at Sheffield Health Partnership NHS Foundation Trust for more than seven years. He is very pleased to be joining us here in Lincolnshire.

We will share more about Dr Hunter joining LPFT in future editions of Better Together, but for now want to thank Dr Kunigiri for all he has done for LPFT and the people of Lincolnshire, and share our best wishes in his new role.
