The importance of caring for carers has been highlighted by Lincolnshire’s mental health and learning disability trust as it is awarded for the ongoing support for Lincolnshire-based carers.
Lincolnshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (LPFT) received the Lincolnshire Carers Quality Award reaccreditation for its continued focus on carers, having first received this award in 2017.
The Trust was presented with this award earlier this month, by the Lincolnshire based organisation, Every-One. Every-One supports unpaid carers and their loved ones, and the Carers Quality Award is funded by Lincolnshire County Council.
Teams have been working with Every-One to gain the reaccreditation, recognising the commitment to identifying and supporting unpaid carers.
The work has been led by Donna Bradford, LPFT’s Service Manager for Carers and Peer Support Lead.
Donna said:
I am delighted that our staff have been recognised for their continued hard work to engage and involve carers. Our teams are committed to improving the information supplied to carers and improving relationships.
Julie Goy, Quality Development Lead for Every-One, presented the award to members of the team. She said:
I cannot explain how impressed I am with the development of the carer support within LPFT services; it will make such a difference to the lives of carers. The areas for carers on the wards are excellent and provide such consistency. The carers group has a really positive impact and the fact that staff have carer awareness training on induction and ongoing is outstanding.
I am amazed at the amount of work that’s been done and that is continuing. The Trust is a prime example of taking initiative and finding solutions, such as the soon to be launched orange lanyard scheme – a simple yet creative idea having bright orange lanyards for carer leads to make them more visible for carers.
