LPFT success at the 2017 awards
Last year's Lincolnshire Health Awards was a great success for our fantastic shortlisted staff at LPFT.
Payroll Shared Services
Non-Clinical Team of the Year
With their recent success at The Rewards 2017 it was no surprise to hear that the team was ranked in the top five nationally and second for mental health trusts. These figures came from the NHS Improvements corporate benchmarking report for cost effectiveness, substantially improving their position from the previous report.
The work done by payroll staff has been held up as an example of good practices to be shared with other NHS trusts. Here are a few examples of their great work:
- Their accuracy rates have increased to 99.93% with errors in single figures each month across 13,000 employees.
- The team improved their Pensions Year End Return accuracy rate exceeding 96% from 92% in 2015, achieving the teams highest ever success rate.
- Against a trust wide target for delivering a 4% of financial savings based on £700,000, the team actually realised an 8.79% saving.
Richard Toone, Head of Payroll and Pensions said:
Payroll is not an industry where people call you up to say you've got it right. It's a bit of a shock to be recognised but we are very pleased.
Hannah Clements, Specialist Clinical Psychologist
Therapist of the Year
Hannah joined LPFT in March 2017, and since then her contribution towards engagement of patients with psychology amongst the wards has been evident. Hannah has brought a fresh new take on psychology within the unit.
The rehabilitation unit deal with patients who have been in the system for years. Hannah's genuine and empathetic approach towards patients has seen an increase in uptake with psychology over the past few months with long standing patients engaging with her, opening up, trusting and working towards new aims and goals.
Hannah said:
I definitely did not expect to win. Our job is to engage with people who are feeling hopeless, people who are hard to reach, in a human way, so that one day they might be able to return to their families. It's a real privilege to do this job.
Ali Young, Community Support Worker
Healthcare Assistant of the Year
Ali puts his heart and soul into his job as a community support worker for our eating disorder service. He played a vital role with the recent revitalisation of the eating disorders day programme. There is now more structure to the sessions offered to patients, and they are now able to opt in or out of the sessions. Social eating has been brought in to encourage patients to eat in the community to hopefully stop them isolating themselves when they eat, and to help them feel able to go out for food when they’re visited by friends or family.
Ali researched the different ways the patients could fully benefit from their time within the day programme, and ensures that the sessions held are varied and fun. The sessions often include mixed discussion topics, games, role playing, informative sessions, mindfulness and more.
Ali deserves to be recognised for the impact he has made, for his dedication and the efforts he puts in to his daily job, and finally, for the commitment and care he provides for his patients.
The Langworth Ward
