LPFT awarded SAS Excellence in Development (SEiD) Recognition Award

We are delighted to announce that Lincolnshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust has been awarded a Bronze award for its excellence in developing SAS doctors.
The SAS Excellence in Development (SEiD) Recognition Award is an NHS England scheme designed to incentivise and celebrate Trusts that tangibly support the career advancement, well-being, and professional experience of Specialty, Associate Specialist, and Specialist (SAS) doctors.
The award requires Trusts to demonstrate the support and development opportunities offered for SAS doctors, providing evidence of being a great place to work and how they support the recruitment and retention of SAS doctors to improve patient care and potentially decrease locum spend.
Shijo Joseph, Specialist Doctor and SAS Tutor at LPFT, attended the awards ceremony last week to collect the award on behalf of the Trust. He said:
“Receiving the first SAS in Excellence Development (SEiD) Award-Bronze from NHS England for our Trust is a tremendous honour for both me, as a SAS Tutor, and our Trust. From the early days of compiling data for the application to holding the award certificate, the journey has been incredibly rewarding. This achievement is a true reflection of our Trust’s ongoing commitment to the growth and development of our SAS Doctors. I am excited to build on this success and look forward to continuing to support our fantastic SAS team!”
Chief Medical Officer, Dr Mike Hunter said:
"Specialty and Associate Specialist (SAS) doctors are a vital part of the NHS and make an invaluable contribution to LPFT. We currently have 32 SAS doctors at LPFT and as highly skilled clinicians, they provide expert patient care, drive innovation, support teaching and training, and play a key role in service development and quality improvement.
“In a large rural and coastal county like Lincolnshire, SAS doctors have helped build resilience within our medical workforce and have been instrumental in the safe and effective delivery of services.
“This award recognises the significant impact SAS doctors have on our patients, services and organisation. I am incredibly proud of their contribution and the vital role they play at LPFT. Thank you to all our SAS doctors for your dedication, professionalism and commitment to delivering outstanding care for the people we serve."
