LPFT staff to take on gruelling Tough Mudder challenge

Published on: 21st June 2023

Staff from two Lincolnshire NHS trusts are teaming up to complete a gruelling physical challenge to raise money to benefit their colleagues and patients.

A 22-strong group, which features employees from Lincolnshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (LPFT) and Lincolnshire Community Health Services NHS Trust (LCHS), are gearing up to take on Tough Mudder at Belvoir Castle in Grantham on Sunday 25 June in the hope of raising money for Lincolnshire NHS Charity.

The charity supports staff and improves patient care. In the past, funds raised have purchased new equipment for the children’s physiotherapy service in Spalding and a therapy puppy.

Rebecca French, a Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner within LPFT’s Lincolnshire Talking Therapies service, said:

"I decided to take part because I know how important it is to look after our own staff’s wellbeing and money raised for the charity can give staff the little bit of support they need too.”

Marianne Cobb, a Promoting Independence Therapy Assistant at LCHS, added:

"I wanted to complete the Tough Mudder to challenge myself before I was 50 but unfortunately COVID got in the way of that, so here I am and what better cause than to raise money to help with staff wellbeing!”

They will be joined on the starting line by LPFT Executive Team members Dr Girish Kunigiri, Chris Higgins, Amy Beeton and Mark Platts, who has been holding team circuit training sessions in preparation for the event.

Mark, LPFT’s Director of Finance and Information, said:

It’s great to have so many people from across the two trusts working hard together to take on this challenge while raising money for a really worthwhile cause.”
