New appointments to LPFT’s Board of Directors

Published on: 16th February 2024

Our Board of Directors are an integral part of LPFT, being the principal decision-making body of our Trust, and we are excited to share the most recent changes and additions to the Board.

First, we are pleased to announce that Kevin Lockyer has been appointed for a second term as Trust Chair following his tenure renewal. His term has been extended for a further three years, from 1 May 2024 to 30 April 2027.

Kevin continues to champion mental health, learning disabilities, autism and dementia services across the Lincolnshire system. During his tenure, the Trust has successfully raised £60m of capital investment to develop and improve mental health services in Lincolnshire, as well as an annual income increase of £40m.

We are also delighted to share the re-appointment of Non-Executive Directors Di Bailey and Tim Harry, who will remain in their roles for a further three years, from 1 May 2024 to 30 April 2027.

Along with celebrating the extensions of our board members’ current roles, we would also like to introduce some exciting new additions to our Trust.

First, the Trust would like to welcome Dr Sarah Whiteman, who has joined the Board as a new Non-Executive Director. A GP by background, Sarah is currently Chief Medical Director for the Integrated Care Board (ICB) in Bedfordshire, Luton, and Milton Keynes (BLMK). Prior to this, she was the Medical Director and then Chair of the BLMK Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG).

Sarah has extensive senior experience at a strategic board and operational level, having worked for NHS England in Primary Care and as Associate Medical Director for NHS Improvement, supporting over 70 acute, ambulance, community, and mental health trusts.

We are also pleased to be trialling some new roles and approaches to the Board to ensure that we have a diverse team that is representative of the communities we serve and the needs of the organisation and system. We have therefore introduced the new role of Associate Non-Executive Director, to which we have appointed Dr Kaval Patel. This is a developmental role that provides the opportunity to shadow the Board and participate in discussions, so that they can build on their existing knowledge and skills.

Dr Patel is a registered GP and partner in a Lincoln-based medical practice, as well as being Deputy Chair for the Lincolnshire Primary Care Network Alliance (PCNA) and the Lincolnshire PCNA Strategic Mental Health Transformation Lead. Additionally, he is the Clinical Director of Lincoln Healthcare Partnership Primary Care Network (PCN) and the clinical lead for the Enhanced Health in Care Homes programme in Lincolnshire.

We are also pleased to confirm that Vijay Luthra has joined the Trust on a 12-month placement as a NExT Director. This role is part of a development programme led by NHS England, which was created and designed to help find and support the next generation of talented people to join NHS boards..

Vijay is a strategic advisor in global health transformation and technology, having worked extensively with the NHS supporting various transformation initiatives.
