New medical director appointed

We are delighted to announce the appointment of Dr Sue Elcock as our new Medical Director. 

Dr Elcock, who has worked as a Consultant Forensic Psychiatrist at Rampton High Secure Hospital in Nottinghamshire since 1995, took up her new role on Monday, 9 February 2015.
Her specialised clinical focus has been working with women with personality disorder and in the management of deliberate self-injury, promoting a recovery based model to empower self-management. Dr Elcock will continue to practise as a Forensic Psychiatrist in Lincolnshire whilst working as Medical Director, recognising the importance of clinically led management approaches.

Dr Elcock said: “I am committed to the vision and ambitions of the Trust as it aims to support people to live healthier lives in their own homes and communities across the county.  I am really looking forward to working with all the staff across the area in continuing the excellent work they do.”

Chief executive, Dr John Brewin, said: “Sue stood out from a strong field of candidates with her excellent track record of clinical and management experience backed by her enthusiasm for the job. She will be a very valuable addition to the executive team.”

Dr Elcock qualified from Birmingham University in 1998 then went on to complete her junior training in psychiatry in Leicester and her higher training in forensic psychiatry in Nottingham. She has undertaken a number of leadership and management roles, notably including being Head of the School of Psychiatry in Health Education East Midlands for three years, leading on the merger of the previous two schools to develop a unified School encompassing five provider NHS trusts.
