For the second year in a row, a team of nine NHS staff members from Lincolnshire Community Health Services NHS Trust (LCHS) and Lincolnshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (LPFT) will be running through the streets of London, past some incredible landmarks as they take on this incredibly popular half marathon.
The London Landmarks Half Marathon takes place on Sunday 7 April 2024 and it is the only half marathon to go through both the City of London and City of Westminster.
All the money raised will go to Lincolnshire NHS Charity, which is a dedicated charity that supports local NHS services with the extras that make a big difference. Lincolnshire NHS Charity works hard to ensure that every penny of funds raised and donated to the charity is spent wisely and makes a difference to local people.
Lincolnshire NHS Charity has helped patients, families, and NHS staff across the region by introducing a therapy dog at Skegness Hospital, creating family rooms for patients and their loved ones, purchasing specialist equipment and much more.
Brooke French, a Perinatal Community Mental Health Nurse at LPFT, is one of the nine taking part. Brooke said:
“I decided to take up running when I first qualified as a nurse. I find that taking part in running events, especially when you know that the money is going to a worthy cause, gives me so much motivation to train and stick at it, even when it feels tough.”
Joining Brooke is Dianne Smith, who is a Registered Nurse Apprentice at LCHS. She said:
“I’m so pleased to be taking part in this event for the second time in a row. As an employee, I see first hand, the huge benefit that Lincolnshire NHS Charity has for our patients and staff members.”
Scott McGinn, Charity Manager at Lincolnshire NHS Charity said:
“We are so pleased that we have been able to take part in the event, for the second time. We are incredibly proud of the team for tackling the London Landmarks Half Marathon and we will be supporting them every step of the way.”
