The Keeping Safe programme is the first step in your treatment. It has been developed by the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Trust (CPFT) Adult Eating Disorder Services to provide information to help you begin to make sense of your difficulties and to encourage you to take steps to minimise any potentially harmful effects caused by your eating disorder whilst you are waiting for treatment.
The aims of the Keeping Safe programme are:
- to provide information about eating disorders
- to promote a better understanding of the effects of eating disorders
- to give guidance and harm minimisation tips to help you keep yourself safe whilst you are waiting for treatment
The podcasts and supporting workbook follow a psychoeducational approach which cover various aspects of your eating disorder, such as the symptoms and their effects. The programme has been designed so that you can select the information and exercises that are most relevant to you.
The Keeping Safe podcasts are accompanied by the Keeping Safe workbook. You will need to have a copy of the workbook before you start the programme. You will be sent your copy of the workbook by the Lincolnshire Adult Eating Disorder Service. Once you have received this, please ensure you have it with you when you start the Keeping Safe programme by listening to podcast one.
