Experts by Experience to Support Medical Students’ Education

Lincolnshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust is working with the Universities of Lincoln and Nottingham Medical Schools to train doctors.

We are looking for Experts by Experience to play a key role in educating medical students who spend time on placement with us.

Who can be one of our Experts by Experience?

People with lived experience of using or caring for someone who has used working age adult or child and adolescent NHS mental health and/or learning disability or autism services. We are also especially interested in welcoming peer support workers in the Trust.

What will the role involve?

  • You would come in to speak to a small group of students one morning and answer questions about your experiences.

  • The face-to-face sessions are held at the Undergraduate Medical Education Centre at Lincoln County Hospital. If you prefer to talk to the students online we can support this.

What support will I be offered?

  • The Medical Education Team have an “Lived Experience Educator” to support other Experts.
  • The Nurse Tutor has experience of delivering teaching in a range of settings and will also attend.
  • We will check in with you before and after your teaching to talk about support we can offer.
  • We will pay all reasonable travel expenses and provide refreshments. We also offer to pay you for your time.
