Courses on wellbeing offered at local Recovery College

Published on: 29th August 2017

People with mental health problems in Gainsborough can access free courses designed to encourage self-care and awareness through the local NHS led Recovery College.

The College aims to help people recover from mental illness by using an educational based approach that can enable people to recognise and develop their personal resourcefulness in order to become experts in their self-care, make informed choices and do the things they want to in life.

The College, managed by Lincolnshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, was set up in 2014 and runs courses across the county. There are currently spaces available on a range of courses in Gainsborough throughout the rest of 2017.

The College are running a number of enrolment sessions for those interested in attending, the first being on Friday 1 September at Gainsborough College.

Service Development Manager Karen Atkin explained that it’s not just people with mental health issues who can enrol.

Our ethos is hope, control and opportunity and although the college is primarily aimed at people experiencing mental health issues; family members, carers, members of the public, college staff and students can also enrol. We have a great range of course from mindfulness and living with stress and anxiety, to mental health resilience and living well," she explained.

We’re hoping to encourage those living in the Gainsborough area to enrol and learn more about how they can look after their own mental wellbeing.
