Departing Director pays tribute to dedicated staff

Non-Executive Director, George Krawiec, said he’ll miss the ‘character’ and ‘atmosphere’ of the Trust as he came to the end of his second full term of office at the end of July.

Mr Krawiec was appointed as a Non-Executive Director (NED) for Lincolnshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust on 1st July 2009.  A qualified solicitor for more than 30 years, he was former Chief Executive for three local authorities.

Now retired, he is also vice chairman of Lincolnshire County Council’s standards committee and in addition to his NED role, was also LPFT’s deputy chair of the Board of Directors since April 2014.

Paul Devlin, LPFT Chair said:

On behalf of everyone in the Trust, I would like to thank George for his dedication and leadership, and the commitment he has always shown to ensuring people of Lincolnshire receive the best care possible. We wish him the very best for the future.

During his time in office, George chaired the Trust’s planning and investment committee and led the project board in the design and construction of LPFT’s innovative rehabilitation unit, Discovery House in Lincoln.

This, alongside the daily dedication to patient care he witnessed across the Trust, he cited as one of his proudest moments.

Discovery House really set the benchmark for exemplary and superb planning,he said.

But I’ll really miss the dedication of the front line staff who always strive for the very best for patients and carers.

Mr Krawiec also paid tribute to former Chief Executive Chris Slavin and ‘outstanding’ former Chairman Eileen Ziemer, who he said were both instrumental in driving patient safety and care throughout the Trust.

He will now concentrate on his various school Governor roles but said all in all, he had been proud to have been a part of LPFT.

There are major challenges for the NHS in the future and the Trust will need to maintain its focus to ensure it keeps providing the best care for its patients, he added.

Most of all I’ll miss the staff at the coal face and if we all work together as Governors, patients, staff and Directors we are stronger. The privilege has been all mine to serve in this organisation.

With George’s departure, Non-Executive Director Alan Lockwood, recently appointed to his second term in office, will take up the role as deputy chair of LPFT’s Board of Directors.
