ME/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome

The Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome Service (ME/CFS) is a specialist service which provides assessment and advice on ME/CFS management strategies.

This service is available to adults and children. The ME/CFS Service team consists of a wide range of skilled staff, including:

Consultant Clinical Psychologists
Assistant Psychologists
Specialist Occupational Therapists
Rehabilitation staff

Our administrative team work from Grantham and District Hospital. However, our clinical staff are part of the Community teams.

Referral

The ME/CFS service is available to all adults and children.
A referral for an assessment can be made by professionals from both primary and secondary care health services.
All referrals must have been already medically screened for differential diagnosis.
The referrer assumes that the person fulfils the criteria for ME/CFS in line with current NICE guidelines on ME/CFS.
The service provides assessment and advice on ME/CFS management strategies.

Service Aims

The aim of the ME/CFS service is to:

Offer specialist assessment to all adults and children
Support service users to improve their health
Teach adaptive coping strategies for effective management of ME/CFS
Take a patient-centred approach to care
Work collaboratively with other health care professionals and services
Offer advice, education and support to carers, employers and education authorities on ME/CFS
