As this is likely to be only a small number of patients this applies to and we have not to date had any contact to express an interest in our events, we have taken the decision to stand down our face-to-face workshops at this time. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

We have continued to collect valuable feedback from our existing patients on the ward, their families and the staff that support them, to help inform our next steps as part of the review and will update further in the future on what the outcomes of these discussions are.

Original background

Demand on our local mental health rehabilitation wards has changed over the last few years, with changes in the type of patients requiring care and services adapting as best they can within their current service offer.

This is particularly common on the Vales at Discovery House, the Trust’s female high dependency rehabilitation service, which offers longer ward-based rehabilitation care to those with the most severe and enduring mental health needs, helping them gain control and understanding of their conditions and supporting them to learn to live as independently as possible again in the future.

We recognise that this demand is likely be ongoing and that we must look at our service in more detail to understand what we can do differently, identify any changes that might be required or any gaps that may need further investment.

We are therefore reaching out to anyone who has received care on the Vales over the last five years, to share with us about your experiences. This offer also extends to the family, friends, support networks and carers for anyone who has received care on the Vales during this time.
