How we work
Collaboration is key to being able to deliver a highly effective service and we work across the Trust as colleagues, and with our partners and local community to deliver a service that meets our community’s needs. In this section, you can read about the ways in which we do this.
Following significant engagement with our Board, governors, colleagues and service users and carers, we are very pleased to officially launch our new five-year Trust Strategy for 2024-2029.
This document sets out the Trust’s ambitious objectives over the next five years to make LPFT the best place to receive care and to work. It also recognises the key role we play in our communities, in sharing our knowledge and experience with others to ensure mental health and support for our learning disability and autistic communities is everyone’s business.
It has been five years since our last strategy was developed, and our lives and communities have changed significantly since the pandemic. However, what we have held true to throughout has been our underlying vision to:
“Support people to live well in their communities”
Some people and communities have struggled to live well more than others over the last few years, and we know demand continues to grow for our services. We also know we continue to have significant pressures on our workforce that we continue to work hard to recruit, develop and retain.
Lincolnshire, like anywhere, has its own unique challenges and opportunities and we must strive to always improve the support available for people.
We are really proud of what we do, but we know we still have gaps in service provision, and sometimes the support available can vary depending on age or where people live. We have a real opportunity working with our partners to make significant improvements to the support we offer. Our ambition is not just to provide specialist secondary services in the county, but to act as a champion for improving the mental wellbeing of the communities we serve.
In the new strategy we have four key areas we will be focusing on:
- A healthy population - using our expertise and influence to improve the health and wellbeing of our communities.
- Outstanding quality - continuously improving to deliver high quality, innovative care.
- Outstanding people - ensuring an inclusive culture, where people have the right skills and values to make a positive difference.
- And best use of resources - maximising our resources for the benefit of our communities and the environment.
How we behave
We spoke earlier in the report about our core values and as part of the re-launch of our new strategy we are taking the opportunity to reflect on whether these values also need to be refreshed.
Feedback from colleagues, service users, carers and partners has been that whilst they are still strongly reflected in all we do, with the launch of the new strategy, it is the ideal opportunity to refresh and ensure they are as closely aligned as possible to our new ambitions.
This work will be co-produced over the coming months, and we look forward to sharing what our new values are in our next annual report.
This strategy will also be robustly supported by delivery plans and performance metrics for us to know we have achieved what we set out to do.
This will be regularly monitored to ensure we remain focused on access, experience, and outcomes.
