LPFT's Annual Public Meeting - 15 September 2016

Published on: 12th September 2016

Lincolnshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (LPFT) will once again open up the doors of its Learning and Development Centre, in Sleaford, on Thursday 15th September, to welcome members of the public to attend its Annual Public Meeting.

The meeting will highlight the variety of mental health, learning disability and social care services available to families living in Lincolnshire and the surrounding areas.

There will also be a chance to learn more about the development of the Trust’s Suicide Prevention Strategy, which was formally launched at last year’s meeting.

As part of its continuing work around suicide prevention, the Trust has recently lent its support to the new multi-agency, countywide Suicide SAFE (Supporting Awareness for Everyone) charter and toolkit - to help local businesses, organisations and groups promote mental wellbeing and support people who may be thinking about harming themselves.

In addition, there will also be showcases from a variety of Trust services and local community groups, and an opportunity to hear about recent innovation projects that are helping to improve patient care across the Trust.
These include a project to give Fitbit and pedometer trackers to a selection of service users to monitor their activity, sleep and heartrate levels; creating a ‘Playlist for Life’ on MP3 players for dementia patients to help recall past memories; and the rolling out of an eight-week programme of physical activities for young people who have accessed mental health services in North East Lincolnshire, to help improve their emotional and physical health.

LPFT Chair Paul Devlin said:

Our Suicide Prevention work is one of our main priorities as we continue to support our service users and anyone else in the community who may be struggling with mental ill health.  The Annual Public Meeting is a great opportunity to come along and find out what services we offer and discover more about some of the exciting and innovative projects we’re currently involved in.

As part of the formal meeting proceedings, people will have the opportunity to hear from LPFT Chief Executive, Dr John Brewin, who will speak about the Trust’s performance over the past year as well as addressing the challenges of the future.

Other senior leaders will present the Trust’s Annual Report and Accounts for the period, after which members of the public will be invited to put questions to the Board of Directors.

The event will also feature the annual Members’ Meeting which will include an update on Trust Governor activities from the past year.

The full address for the meeting is:  Learning and Development Centre, Unit 3, The Reservation, East Road, Sleaford, Lincs, NG34 8BY.  Doors open at 12:30pm for a 1pm start.
