An apprenticeship success story! Well done to Alice Leonard in the LPFT Mental Health Act team

Congratulations to Alice Leonard in our Mental Health Act Administration team who has been shortlisted for the Lincolnshire Apprenticeship Champion Awards 2023!
Alice is now a Senior Mental Health Act Administrator due to finishing her apprenticeship early and this is just the first step in her rewarding NHS career.
The Lincolnshire Apprenticeship Champion Awards for 2023 seek to acknowledge and celebrate the efforts and commitment of apprentices, apprenticeship training providers and employers who are dedicated to the development of their staff and employees who live or work in Lincolnshire.
The Apprenticeship Champion finalists have demonstrated their commitment to overcoming barriers, excellence in skills development and their drive to support success and growth in what has been a challenging year.
Alice has been praised by her colleagues for making suggestions to improve the way the adminstrators work, supporting colleagues, being proactive, having great communication skills, and staying calm under pressure.
Alice said:
"As a Mental Health Act Apprentice, my role was to scrutinise paperwork, minute ward morning meetings, communicate with internal and external stakeholders and assist with queries from clinical staff, whilst learning about the law of The Mental Health Act; all of which required my utmost attention due to this administration role being extremely specific and unique. The role I had undertaken fits in with the organisation as the administration team are essential members of staff to ensure the law is followed, providing advice to clinical staff and certify patient care is not compromised.
"I have always had a passion for mental health and wanted to learn about the law and specifics surrounding this and knew an apprenticeship would be the kick start to my career. Being an apprentice administrator has given me the tools and necessities needed to grow within the NHS.
"I have been given so many amazing opportunities which would not be possible if it was not for my apprenticeship; such as attending leadership courses and being asked to undertake an undergraduate degree in mental health."
We are wishing Alice the best of luck for the ceremony on Thursday 18 May 2023 and look forward to seeing how she progresses in her career.
